At Composers, Inc. we take pride in the diversity of our programs, and this season opener is no exception: premieres of specially commissioned works by seven very different California composers ranging from budding youth to seasoned veterans, played by an array of the Bay Area’s best performers of new music.

We continue our season with a very special event, the premiere production of the chamber opera The Dawn Makers by Composers, Inc.'s own Allen Shearer and librettist Claudia Stevens. This contemporary retelling of the Greek myth of Eos and Tithonos features internationally-known vocalists Christine Brandes and John Duykers and an ensemble conducted by J. Karla Lemon, with stage direction by Brian Staufenbiel.

We present the winners of our annual Lee Ettelson Composer’s Award as well as a 20th-century classic and two unusual works featuring saxophones. The eminent Stanford Wind Quintet is our guest ensemble.

We close our 25th season with music by Composers, Inc.’s artistic directors: Frank La Rocca’s ethereal choral work, plus the premieres of four pieces: Martin Rokeach’s piece for horn and piano played by hornist Robert Ward and pianist Marc Shapiro, Jeffrey Miller’s duo for bass trombone and piano performed by Dave Ridge on bass trombone and pianist Eliane Lust, Tempus Fugit by Robert Greenberg, and a cycle on the theme of the four elements by Allen Shearer.

California State University East Bay, in collaboration with Composers, Inc. presents the seventh annual Glenn Glasow Memorial Concert. Dedicated to the memory of this long-time CSUEBprofessor, this concert will feature works composed and performed by CSUEB faculty and alumni.
